3rd item - High density systems refer to high concentrations of terminals in a given area; for the FS, studies relate to the growing number of point-to-point and point-to-area systems providing FWA to a wide range of services stemming from bb applications to low cost monitoring facilities. From such studies, spectrum was made available by WRC-2000 in bands between 30 and 60 GHz together with power limits and sharing criteria.
Similarly, high density systems in the FSS reflect the increasing need for large numbers of satellite links in a confined area; used for FWA applications, often broadband, to GSO and NGSO satellites. WRC-2000 asks for identification of suitable bands, essentially above 19 GHz, with a view to harmonising such allocations on a global basis and not to constrain the development of other systems, notably in the FS and BSS. It is the sharing aspect with the FS where SG 9 is involved.
