Now will take each of the 7 SGs in turn and, after describing their overall scope, will take two or three examples of current topics that each is addressing.
Starting with SG 1 which deals with Spectrum Management: although could be argued that all SGs deal with spectrum management, SG 1 addresses fundamental aspects and principles (e.g. involving the effective utilization of spectrum both nationally and internationally) and also techniques to support good spectrum management practice (e.g. spectrum monitoring).
Another important area is to study specific questions of inter-service sharing that may arise – questions that are not being dealt with in the service SGs. [A recent example was the revision of the technical procedure for determining the coordination area around satellite earth stations – this revised procedure being agreed as Appendix S7 of the RR at WRC-2000.]
