This is the webpage of the RadioCommunications Unit of the ARPL . Our activities are in the field of ICT Wireless solutions for Developing Countries.

We organize training activities, manage projects and carry out research to find the best solutions to bridge the digital divide. Since 2011 training activities will be done in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union/Bureau of Development of Telecommunications in the “Guglielmo Marconi ICT Wireless Laboratory” a facility designed for teaching and hands-on practices.

Training

Since the initial efforts 17 years ago, our lab has held some 40 training activities attracting more than 1600 participants, from all over the world.

Since 1995 we organized a number of activities at ICTP. These Schools are focused on innovative solutions in design and implementation of 2.4 GHz low-cost wireless local area networks (WLANs).

Research

Our main interest is in ICT4D: how to use Information and communication technologies to help development of academic networks.

In particular, we have been working on Long Distance Wireless Links, Wireless Sensor Networks for Development and  Low-cost solutions for wireless links setup.
