ARPL Competition 2004 for the "best tuned" Lab Group

Deciding the winner of the first annual 2004 ICTP Wireless competition proved to be a very challenging task. All five groups had a very strong showing, making it necessary to give much consideration to the written quiz and group reports, as well as the performance of each group's antennas.

To everyone's credit, all equipment and other materials were checked back in. Eventually. ;)

While group 4 proved to have a superior omni antenna (by 4 dB relative to Carlo's omni!), their BiQuad design only edged out group 2's by only a few tenths of a dB. Group 2 also had a better quiz score by one point, provided a very detailed lab report, and also provided excellent details of their coaxial cable performance.

After much difficult deliberation, the judges have awarded the first annual 2004 ICTP Wireless competition prize to... Group 2!
Congratulations to group 2, and to all of the groups for their terrific performance!
