the network is the computer (catchy ad phrase but perhaps more correct that it may first seems) our OS must truly allow us to exploit this ability (the network) to do what we want to do, i.e. in education and science our data is the most important thing, what we want to do is the most important thing, the OS should get out of our way, so select the OS that does this best an open OS is a natural supporting environment for an open file format data model
