Notes:
- ITU-R is responsible for ensuring the co-existence of various services within the frequency spectrum without causing harmful interference. The Union facilitates agreements between operators and governments.
- Through its Bureau, ITU-R acts as central register of international frequency use – MIFR – currently contains over 1.25m terrestrial frequency assignments, 0.3m assignments serving 1400 satellite networks, and over 4000 assignments to satellite earth stations. (n.b. right of a Member State to file assignments with BR – has advantage through “principle of recognition” which helps in the case of reported interference).
