Preliminaries: "Digital Divide" -Definition
- Those who have and those who have-not access to the net
- The fact that Internet revolution is leaving some groups behind
(i.e. groups without right skills for
the Information Age or skills to sort through its resources)
- The need to give Internet to the masses
(goal:
increase knowledge economy)
There is not a shared definition -
Digital Divide is Divided!
The divide is more than adequate access to today's technology!
Ownership of a computer will not solve these problems
e.g., needed is ability to manipulate technology tools
through a variety of media.
