This isn't intended to be a lecture, but an
interactive talk about the use of wireless for LAN (and also many
other purposes).
Radio is an "old" technology, but recent
development has "spread" a lot his usefulness, now radio can be
used with big profit in many new environments.
Radio is a strong competitor of cable/fiber
technology in telecom market, even more in datacomm.
Overview of radio technologies:
narrow band radio (HF, VHF, UHF) : packet
radio
microwaves : the standard digital carrier
for telecom/datacom
spread spectrum radio : a new concept of
LAN
Please let me know your interest, we will not
cover all aspects of radio datacom, but hopefully we will "touch"
at least the interesting/needed ones...
(The results of my survey about interesting
topics for participants are here!)
Our "simulated real-life activity" is the
planning, development and maintenance of a campus LAN, briefly our
Wireless
LAN Project
