The Workshop is co-organized by the ICTP and the ITU-BDT, and is targeted to international experts and decision makers from Developing Countries.

The aim of the Workshop is to discuss, among experts, the most advanced and cost-effective low cost wireless solutions to help educational, social and economic development of LDC countries. This discussion is relevant because the recent technology advances, including low cost solutions, allow the use of ICT in a wider range of development related areas in LDC, particularly in educational and scientific environment. However it is necessary to define technically all the possible alternatives that guarantee sustainability.

The results of the technical discussion and the definitions about educational, economic and regulatory aspect will be presented to and discussed with policy makers from LDC government and high education institutions and donors organizations.

As result of the Workshop a “white paper” with the results of the technical discussions and recommendations should be prepared under the editorship of the Workshop directors.
