We have been given a task by Dr. Sebastian to set up a mesh of potato and we would like to share some challenges:
We started without any idea on potato, it only sounded delicious like those in Galileo cafeteria!
Step 1:
Getting Started with your Mesh Potato
http://wiki.villagetelco.org/index.php?title=Mesh_Potato_HOWTOsOn the first time we have two devices (Potato) and the link how to get started with Mesh Potato.
By default the Potato is configured to have an IP 192.168.1.20
We had to set the two Potato as
MP1: 192.168.4. 66
MP2: 192. 168.4.67
The computer we used has been given a new IP to match the same subnet as the potato
We used these commands for the changes made for Potato MP1:
$ ssh root@192.168.1.20
root@OpenWrt:~#
After setting the root password telnet was disabled and ssh enabled:
IP 192.168.4.67
Net:255.255.255.0
dns: 140.105.16.50
gateway 192.168.4.4
At this step we are able to communicate with each potato by its own, the second step should be to make the two communicating in mesh and the third step to
Connecting a Mesh Potato to the Internet via wireless networkto be continued on Monday...
Monday 8th March
From the
Dairies mesh networks have been established ; not with potato but with different access points (
Linksys WRT54G), and the configurations were more easier and faster than using potato.

While you generally don't want to write down passwords in public places, for a learning exercise like this it would be good to let others know what you've changed it to.

Thank you very much for the nice remarks, we have to insert more explanations for the little we started about this task, we still have a lot to do!
