Wireless can work wonders if installed and configured correctly. It can be a real challenge if you have no one who can make a use of it effectively. To make it work the way it should work you need trained people.Ok now there are people who can train as a result of that you a have a group of people who are offering work. Work means livelihood, a job. For a population of billions creating new job opportunity is an essential incentive. This is a comment on general wireless systems may they be proprietory or not.
In proprietory we have telcoms. Few years ago they were in demand of telecom engineers. Universities started teaching telecom engineerings and suddenly every ones preference was now to have a telecom degree.By the time I graduated telecom industry is flooded with people. What should we do? Move on to the next best solution. WiFi which can actually serve the Rural Areas of Pakistan at very cheap rates. Most people in Rural areas are living with below average pays.No infrastructure of Land lines. Obviously no mobile operator operating there. Operators analyze and deploy their Base Station where ever they can see business (MONEY). So here we are with two main points in this para Cheap rates and extended access. Very important.
WHY IMPORTANT.
I know of a village in which people have one access point.By access point I mean one Public Call Office. If the people have to call they go to the PCO stand in a queue wait for their turn and then make sure they have enough money in their pocket to make one call. They give the number of PCO to the people they call in the city. So what now if you have to call them. You call PCO.A person is sent to the house of a person who is called. Meanwhile the call is disconnected with a request to the calling party to call after approximately 10 minutes. The called party reaches the PCO and waits for the call to be made again. You can uptill now see how inconvenience and difficult it is! Just imagine what they would be able to do if they get cheap VoIP service or even fairly decent internet connections.
