This part of field activity involves coming up with a bill of quantities focusing on reducing the cost. The guiding principles are:
- Reduce the link margin to say just 8dB
- Look for inexpensive radios and antennas
- Consider DIY options
Radios
According to our network design we will need an outdoor, robust and dual radio at Mpingwe. A metrix mark ll dual radio meets our requirements. On the other sites we propose to use a Linksys WAP54G wireless 54Mbps Access point which is cheap and can be easily configured to serve as either a client or an access point.
