On tuesday afternoon we will be focusing our attention on hands-on training on the topic of security. There will be a special focus on Authentication and Authorization.

It is up to you what exactly we should cover during this afternoon. There are a couple things we can look at including:

• Hands-on installation and setup of an AAA (Authorization, Authentication and Accounting server) on ubuntu (using freeradius, chillispot and mysql)
• Looking at common linux security tools. Possible tools to look at:

We ended up working with AAA, discussing AAA as a model, and installing 2 gateways with a combination of software:

• mysql (http://mysql.com/) - (for storing username password combinations)
• freeradius (http://freeradius.org/) - (for authenticating and authorising users via the RADIUS protocol)
• apache2 with SSL support (http://www.apache.org/) - for hosting the chillispot login page
• chillispot (http://chillispot.org) - redirects users to a login web-page which acts as the authentication supplicant
